Tendrils of the Lightning chapter 1Chapter 1Tendrils of the Lightning chapter 1 by Drakshal
Many students have come out of Caspia's Institute of War, but not many came out with as high recommendations for the Warcaster Program as Jarred Zera, a young man, whose family had been in the Cygnaran army since before the Orgoth Wars. Zera's military education so far had been as a Stormguard, and he therefore wielded one of the Nexus Generators that were the trademark of the leaders of his military branch. The young man now stood outside the capital's main gates, waiting for his teacher-to-be in the arts of Warcasting to arrive and tell him what kind of mission they were going to conduct.
Jarred Zera had been in active field service for almost five years prior to enrolling at the Strategic Academy for Warcaster training after realizing he was able to sense the cortexes of both enemy and friendly warjacks, and it had been no more than 12 hours since he completed the basic training of the Warcaster Program, which taught initiates how to manipulate the very es

After a day and a half of travel, Zera could see the Clocker's Cove clearly. The little group had refueled their 'jacks several times, so they had always been ready for combat. The next fuel depot was in Clocker's Cove and that would be their last stop before they officially began their mission. Zera and his Firefly had already grown to be fond of each other, and the young warcaster could feel his 'jack's eagerness to prove itself in battle. He kept telling it to be patient and that it would soon have the chance. Stryker and the rest of the forces made a halt at the fuel depot, where the Field Mechanics began refueling the 'jacks right away. 'Leave your Firefly here,' Stryker said to Zera and started walking towards the coast. 'But, Lord Commander, won't we need 'jack support if we are to engage the undead?' Zera asked and followed Stryker. 'Our 'jacks would attract way too much attention with their steam and their stomping,' came the simple reply. 'As a warc

The armored woman burst suddenly into the office, trailed by a pair of confused Flameguard. "Protector! I bring news of the utmost importance!"
Feora looked up from her duty rosters and expenditure reports. Her subordinate's face showed the truth of her words, so the warcaster waved the guards back to their posts. "Nicia. Come, sit down and give your report."
"Thank you, Priestess. I have just received word from our units attached to the Northern Crusade: Hierarch Severius is returned to the Creator, brought down by a Cryxian surprise assault outside Elginsburg. Vice Scrutator Vindictus has taken command of the Crusade and ordered a full displacement back to Protectorate lands."
The warcaster leaned back in her chair and tented her fingers. "So Vindictus has assumed
The Motherland and Honor Part2Taking up their Kovnik's cry, the Shocktroopers stepped forward as one, snapping their shields up in a wall and bracing themselves against the inevitable impact of the 'jacks. Ivan and Petrovski were in the middle of the formation, with two of his men to the right, and the last two members past him. The Demolition Corps fell back, out of easy charge range of the 'jacks but within range to reinforce the Shocktroopers, and the Greylords stepped up directly behind the Shocktroopers, beginning the magical incantations that would be necessary to attempt to halt the charge of the inbound Slayers. The Motherland and Honor Part2 by smguy
By this time the Slayers had reached full speed and were about ten seconds away from impacting the Shocktrooper line, one slightly in front of the other. One of the Shocktroopers on the end began singing the Khadoran national anthem, and in a moment the entire squad had joined in, Petrovski included. They were still in the first refrain when the first Slayer crashed their line.

|Embark upon a journey into the realm of "Full Metal Fantasy," a land where battle-hardened characters gird themselves in scarred mail and metal and take up their saw-toothed blades and smoking forgelock pistols, where steamjacks belch ash and stream upon the battlefields and the cobbled streets of cities and strongholds, and where steam power is fused with arcane might.|
The IronKingdoms group welcomes all submissions relevant to Iron Kingdoms and Warmachine/Hordes. This includes D&D character art, photographs of your painted minis, or any piece of writing set in the IK world.
Artwork may be submitted even if you do not join, but all submitted artwork will be added to the group pending a vote to confirm the content is applicable and follows our submission guides.
The Iron Kingdoms setting has its own distinct, steampunk-fantasy characteristics and flavour. However, if your submitted artwork doesn't look like it belongs, and fails to explain in the deviation title or description how it relates to the Iron Kingdoms, your submission may be removed or not approved. A line in the description referencing IK or how the subject matter is IK-related ("This is my Khadoran sniper") is perfectly sufficient.
If your piece is steampunk or fantasy-inspired, but not directly Iron Kingdoms, please submit it to the Group Favourites instead!
